Groundbreaking

Construction on the new Celina Elementary School officially began Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, when the district and Ohio Facilities Construction Commission played host to a groundbreaking ceremony. The event was attended by Celina City Schools staff, students and board members; OFCC representatives; City of Celina officials; media members; elected officials; Mercer County commissioners; local service organization members; Garmann Miller and Peterson Construction teams; and Celina community members.

The new Celina Elementary School, which will include a 115,000 square-foot addition to the existing Celina Intermediate School, will serve PK-6 grade students. The addition will be home to PK-3 students and be constructed west of the existing CIS building located on Portland Street. The 81,000-square-foot CIS will be renovated and re-programmed as part of the overall building project and serve grades 4-6.
