Celina community members answered a longtime need for its school district in May 2021 when they passed a levy that would bring new school buildings to the city. The project plan includes an elementary building addition to the already existing Celina Intermediate School Building (grades PK-6) and a new junior-senior high school (grades 7-12). It’s a great time to #BeABulldog!

Big things are happening.

  • “Definitely a positive for the Celina community, for future generations of students. Huge shout-out to the Celina Bulldog community. What a win. We appreciate all the trust that this gives us to build these wonderful facilities for future generations of students.”

Dr. Ken Schmiesing, former superintendent, Celina City Schools

A new Celina Elementary School will include a 115,000-square-foot addition to the existing Celina Intermediate School, which will serve PK-6 students.

The addition will be home to PK-3 students and be constructed west of the existing CIS building located on Portland Street. The 81,000-square-foot CIS will be renovated and re-programmed as part of the building project and serve grades 4-6. Construction of the new building addition of Celina Elementary School Building is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2024. The renovations of the existing CIS building will continue into the fall of 2024. Demolition of the existing West Building and site improvement work associated with the Celina Elementary School site will continue into 2025.

Design of the future Celina Middle/High School will follow the design completion of the Celina Elementary School in early 2023. This new 7-12 building will be located on the existing Celina Primary School site. Construction is slated to start in summer 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2026.
